As I spend time observing my cooperating teacher and working with students, the aspects of teaching that I find exciting are when students participate in class discussions and play educational games as a whole class. What I find overwhelming is when students don't pay attention and spend most the time talking with their classmates or paying more attention to their computer than the teacher. I find my cooperating teacher doing a good job when it comes to getting students engaged.

I am excited to be able to create my own lessons and run the classroom. My cooperating teacher came up with very creative lessons for the students and made the classes entertaining and lively. I would like to do this in my classroom. I feel that it is a bit overwhelming when teaching certain music classes, such as choir, where the teacher will have 20-40 students at one time with no aids. But with time it will become easier to control the room. My cooperating teacher made it known that she was in charge and if you did not behave you would be sent to the office. This made the students listen and behave in the large group setting. I have learned that when teaching, you need to stay calm and act like you know what you are doing, even if you dont. If the teacher is panicking then the students will panic or become out of control making the situation worse. But when the teacher is calm and acting as if everything is ok, then the students stay calm and do not act out.
